Scam Site Proved

I found this comment online and wanted to share it with everyone.

"Men are so gullible and that's why fraud companies such as loveme.com or Foreign Affairs exist. The hypocrisy of those people is at a level of the best of crooks. For example, they will state not to write girls on the website as it is a waste of money but they sure as *** promote it for you to use the site, don't they? They also use FAKE women. Pictures bought from other agencies. Do you want proof? Check out their videos out of Ukraine (per cities) and then, go to their website and notice all the beautiful women from those cities. Next, try to find one on those videos...just one. Good luck! When you write to those models on their website, do you honestly believe those women are actually writing back? Think more like some men or other women doing so and you will be spot on.

Another very noticeable fact on their videos, the majority of women are in their 20's. They are not there for you but to have a good time. They are also warned to be nice with the men Foreign Affairs brought into Ukraine or anywhere else for that matter. You think women in their 20's are interested in those 50 and up? Of course not! They are participating to act nice, to get a great dinner date the next day AND gifts from extremely gullible men."

A Foreign Affair is not a Dating Site

After reading your post I browsed over to the A Foreign Affair website loveme.com. The following is from the home page of their site: "A Foreign Affair (AFA) is a comprehensive International Introduction service specializing in introducing couples on a global basis."

Not to be knitpicky, but this thread has to do with online dating, and A Foreign Affair is not a dating site.

Having said that, I can understand that 100% of customers or clients are never going to be satisfied, no matter the business. I've owned a concrete repair business since the early 1990's and have become honorably successful at it. Still I can recount dozens of customers who took issue with the job done. Some went as far to sound as dissatisfied as the person you quoted regarding AFA. People like that exist and always will, no matter how much you try to satisfy them.

IMO, for you to paste that person's accusation of 'fraud' against a company like AFA, is irresponsible only because the experience was his, not yours. You found something on another website, considered it to be some kind of proof, and then posted it here.

I try to investigate before I reach conclusions. Experience has taught me to do so, mainly to avoid putting my own foot in my mouth in front of other people. It's embarrassing, which is in no way an accusation toward you. It's just better to be knowledgeable instead of simply eager to give an instant opinion.

In looking at AFA, I gathered the following information, and I hope it can be of help to all on this forum:

AFA has been in business since 1995, which at the time of this post is 25 years, a quarter of a century. The site has a very large number of client comments that are surprisingly positive, some of them of high praise toward the company. There are also pages and pages of couples engaged or married because they met through AFA.

I next checked the BBB about AFA and found that any issues over the years were resolved, which to me as a business owner means a great deal. It means AFA is interactive with their clients, even after the client has complained. That isn't always easy, I know. Overall, the BBB finds AFA a reputable company and gives them an A-Plus rating.

I simply felt, after reading your post, that it might represent a common falsehood found in the business/customer dynamic: complaint is not the same as complaining. We all have complaints. Some customers, however, are drawn toward complaining much like alcoholics are drawn toward drinking. It's just what they do.

Dear dirty2dbone

I am a single african-american woman, employeed for 19 years by the state of California and am handicapped for life in a wheelchair because of a drunk driver who thought and spoke much like you. How would you feel if someone wrote that same way about your handicapped mother or sister? Please think about that, and for godsakes...learn how to spell.

Online Dating vs Matchmaking Agencies

Online dating sites probably get the majority of business, eHarmony OkCupid Zoosk and a plethora more. I tried a couple, met a few women, but dating sites have a few drawbacks and they grow (did to me) to become major pains in my time, efficiency, and quality of life.

I want to highlight those issues, and I think the easiest way is a comparison with a growing industry known as 'Matchmaking'. Being honest, I haven't done the matchmaking route myself. I feel close enough to inside info on the subject because I used to date a woman who is now a professional matchmaker. Irony, right? She does well at it and finds joy in matching people together.

1. Matchmaking is safer than online dating. Most online dating sites/apps don't vett the membership. Personal matchmakers make sure everyone goes through screen checks. Clients are interviewed. So with dating sites you don't really know who or what you communicate with. That has happened to me, and it felt more than a little creepy and potentially dangerous. Matchmakers know no strangers because the matchmaking process eliminates the unkown - more on that further below.

2. Matchmaking hooks you up with dates who are serious about finding love. So that's not often the case with dating sites. Online dating is basically anonymous dating. The degree of real interest and intent from online members is pretty iffy. So matchmaking has fees and costs that online dating does not, and that's a big thing and a good thing. So because money is involved, your possible matches are really interested. They are serious, not just jerking you around from an anonymous location in their mom's basement (sorry about the cliche, but sometimes it turns out that way).

3. So you've paid money for a matchmaker - so you will definitely meet real live people. So people dating online lie
a lot about themselves. It's kind of disturbing, after a while. Like Shawna can really be, behind the scene, Shawn. Or Serena is definitely NOT serene. Online dating has created millionaires out of grocery clerks, but only in their online profile. People, PEOPLE LIE, and matchmaking is the antithesis of this. Clients are met in person to ensure they are physically, mentally, and emotionally who they say they are. Time is spent by the agency to get to know their clients and identify their personalities. So at the end of the day, it’ll feel like a friend introducing you their friend. At least that is the plan.

One more comment about the paid aspect of matchmaking: it sounds a more mature approach, more serious, while now I can feel online dating is more high school and bubble gum. If either approach appeals to you, try them out. Personally, I'll try anything that improves my life.

Great Post by exitentialthreat

The post by existentialthreat, titled Online Dating vs Matchmaking Agencies was spot on. Very insightful. I have wondered what the difference is between online dating and matchmaking agencies, and you answered most of my questions.

One thing, though, is what I noticed earlier today when I scouted the website loveme.com of the company A Foreign Affair. They present themselves as both a matchmaking agency and international introductions service. How does that work?

A Foreign Affair interests me for several reasons: the company appears to be one of the founding online businesses (since 1995); their profile list is probably the largest of all; the client comments are extensive and very positive toward service; and now, being an international introductions service, they also have matchmaking services. Another positive for me; they boast to have offices in every city and country where introduction tours are offered. Their introduction tours take place in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Quite extensive.

If anyone knows or has experienced working with A Foreign Affair, I would like to know more before I contact the company about information from them directly - I am being cautious, but admit to being interested, more toward them than any other company or service I have researched.
